The Regular Season in CBA just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
CBA top team - Sharks (38-4) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked Heroes (24-16) in Jinan 94-88. It was a good game for American-Qatari Brandon Goodwin (188-1995, college: FGCU) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Guard Terry Li (190-2000) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Keyontae Johnson (195-1999, college: Kansas St.) replied with 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for Shandong H.Heroes' coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Sharks have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Shanghai maintains first position with 38-4 record. Shandong H. at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 16 games lost.
Bottom-ranked Blue Whales is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 42th consecutive match to sixth ranked Golden Bulls (27-15) 104-81. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Dakari Johnson (213-1995, college: Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Brandon Randolph who added 16 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Puerto Rican Kyle Vinales (188-1992, college: CCSU) with 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 9 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Golden Bulls have a solid four-game winning streak. Zhejiang GB. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Guangdong ST. Sichuan at the other side still closes the standings.
A very close game took place in Jinjiang between Sturgeons and Guandong Tigers. Fourteenth ranked Sturgeons (17-25) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Guandong Tigers (27-15). Sturgeons managed to escape with a 2-point win 93-91 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The winners were led by Yoan Makoundou who scored that evening 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Even a double-double of 32 points and 16 rebounds by Nick Rakocevic did not help to save the game for Guangdong ST.
