CBA Round 3 (Regular Season): Beijing D. hands first defeat to Liaoning

Round 3 means everything may happen in CBA as the season just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Flying Leopards (3-1) in Beijing on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Ducks (4-0) 94-81. Beijing D. made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Eugene German (183-1997, college: NIU) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. The former international center Qi Zhou (217-1996) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Dezmine Wells (196-1992, college: Maryland) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ducks are looking forward to face Shenzhen L. (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Flying Leopards will play against Ningbo R. (#12) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

It was a good game for who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). JaKarr Sampson contributed with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American point guard Isaiah Briscoe (190-1996, college: Kentucky) answered with 17 points for Fujian S.Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guangsha Lions will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sturgeons will play on the road against Zhejiang GB. (#15) in Hangzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 3 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless Sichuan was defeated by Shandong H. in Jinan 94-87. Beijing was beaten by Xinjiang at home 95-105. Winless Tianjin P. lost to Jilin NE T. on the opponent's court 80-90. Ningbo R. managed to outperform Shenzhen L. in a home game 81-72. Nanjing lost to undefeated Qingdao E. on the road 88-99. Shanxi L. defeated Zhejiang GB. on its own court 102-91.

Shandong H. - Sichuan BW 94-87

There was no surprise in Jinan where Blue Whales (0-4) were defeated by Heroes (2-1) 94-87. Shandong H. made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a good game for American Marquese Chriss (206-1997, college: Washington) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Myles Powell (188-1997, college: Seton Hall) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. American point guard Eugene German (183-1997, college: NIU) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and the former international center Qi Zhou (217-1996) added 18 points in the effort for Sichuan. Five Sichuan players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Heroes will play against Beijing (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Blue Whales will play against Nanjing (#11) and hope to get finally their first victory.

No shocking result in a game in Beijing where Flying Tigers (2-2) defeated Royal Fighters (2-2) 105-95. Xinjiang outrebounded Beijing 43-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for Zach Nutall who led his team to a victory with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Dedric Lawson contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. American Marquese Chriss (206-1997, college: Washington) answered with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Grant Riller (189-1997, college: Charleston) added 21 points in the effort for Beijing. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Flying Tigers will play against Jilin NE T. (#9) in Changchun in the next round. Royal Fighters will play on the road against Shandong H. in Jinan and hope to get back on the winning track.
