Best Teams for The 2025 CBA Season

The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) has the best teams in Asia competing for the championship title. Founded in 1995, the CBA is regulated by the Chinese Basketball Management Center to provide world-class facilities for sports athletes.

Take a look at these CBA teams in the upcoming 2025 season.

Liaoning Bengang

Liaoning Bengang or Liaoning Flying Leopards are the current championships in the CBA. The Chinese team was able to win 3 consecutive championship titles from 2022-2024, making the Liaoning Bengang invincible to their opponents.

Yang Ming is the head coach of the Liaoning Bengang. He actively trains his team to perform at their peak during each season of the CBA. The Liaoning Gymnasium is the home arena for playing matches. It has a capacity of 12,000 to entertain basketball fans from China and other Asian countries.

In the last CBA season, Liaoning Bengang beat several teams like the Shenzhen Marco Polo and South China Tiger to progress to the finals of the tournament. Liaoning Bengang defeated the Xinjiang Yilite for a 4-0 victory to earn the championship title in 2024.

Han Dejun is the captain of the Liaoning Bengang. He signed with the CBA team, Liaoning Bengang, in 2007 and steadily increased the minutes played per game over the next few seasons. He has spent nearly 20 minutes in each match during the 2024 CBA season to help his team win the competition. In the 49 matches that Han Dejun has appeared in, he has maintained 11.3 points per game (ppg).

Xinjiang Yilite

Xinjiang Yilite or Xinjiang Flying Tigers has to be one of the biggest teams in any of the Asian basketball leagues. It has made major improvements in the team line-up and tactics to reach the finals of the 2024 season. Despite facing defeat against the Liaoning Bengang in the 2024 CBA finals, it is training hard to climb higher up the rankings for the upcoming season.

The CBA team, Xinjiang Yilite, did not qualify for the playoffs in the past 2 seasons from 2021-2023. After more than a decade of playing in the CBA, the Xinjiang Yilite managed to secure their first championship win in 2017. The Xinjiang Yilite beat the Guangdong Southern Tigers in a 4-0 win to claim their championship title.

Sun Guangxin is the owner of the Xinjiang Yilite sports club. He has played a key role in developing the Chinese city, Ürümqi, by launching restaurants, discos, karaoke bars, and sports facilities. Ürümqi is the headquarters of Xinjiang Yilites, attracting thousands of people to the Urumqi Olympic Sports Center to spectate basketball matches.

Top scorers in the Xinjiang Yilite include Qi Lin, Lindell Wigginton, and Dominique Jones. Many of the basketball players in the CBA team like Dominique Jones have also played for the NBA. With the impressive roster, Xinjiang Yilite, might return to the playoffs for a second championship win in 2025. Qiu Biao is the head coach of Xinjiang Yilite.

Zhejiang Chouzhou Financial Leasing

Zhejiang Chouzhou Financial Leasing or the Zhejiang Golden Bulls is a CBA team that is a part of the Southern Division. Red and white are the primary colors of the jerseys worn by the players in the Zhejiang Chouzhou Financial Leasing.

Yet to win a championship title, Zhejiang Chouzhou Financial Leasing has a motivated team of sports stars. These basketball players are competing with the toughest rivals in the CBA to score more points in each season of the CBA.

The best performance of Zhejiang Chouzhou Financial Leasing could be seen during the 2023 CBA season as the team succeeded in appearing in a finals match. In the same year, Zhejiang Chouzhou Financial Leasing also won the bronze medal at the FIBA International Cup that was held in Singapore.

Lu Wenbo, Wu Qian, and Justin Tillman are a few of the talented athletes from Zhejiang Chouzhou Financial Leasing. A number of American basketball players have been a part of the CBA team in the past, such as, Erick Green, Arinze Onuaku, and Sonny Weems.

Guangdong South China Tigers

Guangdong South China Tigers played 52 matches in the 2024 CBA season with an average of 110.6 ppg. It has won 37 matches in the previous season, turning Guangdong South China Tigers into an admirable team in China and the rest of Asia.

Established in 1993, Guangdong South China Tigers started competing in the CBA to earn a reputation as a sports club in basketball leagues. The CBA team has won a total of 11 championships, making Guangdong South China Tigers one of the brightest teams for potential basketball stars.

Basketball players regularly score points for the Guangdong South China Tigers at the Dongguan Basketball Center. Du Feng, the head coach of Guangdong South China Tigers, recruits the finest athletes in China to support the aspirations of his sports club. Guangdong South China Tigers has an ongoing rivalry with the CBA team, Beijing Ducks, inviting Chinese citizens to their home arena for epic matches.

Apart from the CBA, Guangdong South China Tigers has also competed in the Asian Club Championship and National Club Championship. Guangdong South China Tigers landed in the 4th position in the tables while playing in the 2024 CBA season. Tremont Waters is among the highest scorers in the Guangdong South China Tigers with 20.8 ppg from 51 matches.
