Korean Men's basketball team dominate Indonesia in 95-55 victory

The Korean men’s basketball team thrashed Indonesia 95-55 in their first Hangzhou Asian Games group stage game on Tuesday, starting the tournament with a convincing win. The game began at Zhejiang University Zijingang Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China with Korea winning the first quarter 20-8. The second quarter saw more points from both sides, but Korea scored more and ended the quarter at 50-31. Korea’s attacks persisted through the third quarter and took the score to 72-44, before ending the game at 95-55. Korea’s Hoon Heo (181-G-1995) was the hero of the game, scoring 20 points alone. Kim Jong-kyu and Rattlife also shone during the game, managing 19 and 12 points respectively. Saputera Yudha scored the most for Indonesia with 15 points, but fell short of Korea’s attacks. A total of 16 teams, divided into four groups, are competing in the this year’s Asiad, with the top two teams from each group reaching the knockout stage. Korea is in Group D of the tournament alongside Indonesia, Japan and Qatar. With one win in hand, Korea will next face Qatar at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium on Thursday. If Korea win a gold medal in basketball this year, it will be their fifth of the tournament. Since the 1951 tournament, the Korean men’s basketball team has secured four gold medals in the Asiad, with their most recent one in 2014, when they claimed it in Incheon.
