Australia and New Zealand make it into Final in Malaysia

Australia - China 87-59

Australia stormed past China to advance into the Final in Malaysia. Madison Ryan (185-SF-2009) scored 22 points, while Isabel Smith (176-G-2009) and Marianela Fakalata (168-G-2009) tossed in 13 points each for the Sapphires. Australia used a 29-12 run in the second period to take a 19-point halftime lead. They followed with a 23-11 rally in the fourth stanza to seal the win. Yuanshan Li (178-F-2009) provided 12 points for China.

Japan - New Zealand 64-68
New Zealand held off Japan in the semifinal clash in Malaysia today. Ava Jones (185-F-2009) and Sienna Maurice (179-F-2010) knocked down 15 points apiece for the Kiwis. Japan grabbed a 17-14 lead after ten minutes. But New Zealand held their opponents to just 2 points in the second frame to gain a 31-19 halftime advantage. Japan went on a strong comeback rally in the second half but came up short at the end. Miya Takeuchi (161-G-2009) nailed 23 points for Japan.
