Australia celebrate title in Amman- June 30, 2022
FINALAustralia - Japan 59-58Australia clinched Gold in Amman. They nipped Japan in the exciting Final tonight. Jayda Clark (183-F/C-2005) sank two free throws late in regulation to ice the victory for Australia. There were 11 lead changes in this close battle. Australia eked out a 17-14 lead after ten minutes. Japan used an 18-13 run in the third term to spur ahead. But Australia uttered the last word in this clash and got away with the championship title. Isla Juffermans (191-C-2005) posted 14 points and 13 rebounds for the champions. Jayda Clark added 13 points in the win. Kokoro Tanaka (171-SG-2006) responded with 17 points for Japan. 3-4 PlaceSouth Korea - New Zealand 78-59South Korea stepped onto the pedestal in Amman as they rallied past New Zealand in the consolation final. South Korea held their opponents to just 4 points in the second term to take a 37-24 halftime lead. They followed with a 20-14 run in the third term to clear off for good.
