Syria and Samoa advance into semifinal stage in Division B

Syria - Iran 59-46

Syria rallied past Iran to secure the semifinal berth. Syria dominated in the first half. They accumulated a 28-24 halftime lead. Iran cut the deficit in the third period. They pulled within one point at the final intermission. But Syria answered with a 19-7 run in the fourth stanza to ice the victory. Laila Hasan Agha finished with 14 points, while Simel Alahmar (173-F-2005) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for Syria. Farnaz Khodamoradi (178-PF-2005) answered with 11 points for Iran.

Kazakhstan - Samoa 51-54
Samoa surprised Kazakhstan to reach the semifinal stage in Division B. Kira-May Filemu (178-F-2006) was pivotal with 20 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. Kazakhstan grabbed a 14-11 lead after ten minutes. But Samoa responded with a strong 18-4 push in the second frame to take a 29-18 halftime lead. Kazakhstan managed to narrow the deficit in the second half but could not avoid the upset. Sienna Tutani (184-F/C-2006) connected for 12 points and 10 boards for Samoa. Anastassiya Knaub (190-C-2005) tallied 13 points and 15 boards for Kazakhstan.
