China dethrone Japan to win the title at the U16 Asia Championship. The Chinese team trailed 8 points at the end of the first period, but dominated the rest of the game and clinched a 62:50 win.
Japan was the favorite if the game and started it with a 6-2 tip. They increased to 17-9 advantage at the end of the first period, but could not win the game. China closed the second frame with a 13-2 surge and took 30:27 at the halftime. The second half only saw China grow in strength. China improved to 47:39 after three quarters and celebrated a 62:50 win.
Wang Haimei (172-G-97) and Dilana Dilishati (192-C-97) top-scored for the winners with 10 points each, while Guo Zixuan (187-F-97) netted 9. Ha Wenxi (188-C-97) and Wang Zhen (189-F-97) delivered 8 points each. Shibuya Satsuki (168-SF-98) replied with 13 points and 11 rebounds in defeat and Risa Nishioka (184-C-97) posted 11. Tamami Nakada (180-C-97) delivered 7, whilst Akari Ikemoto (167-G-97) nailed 6.

South Korea U16-Taiwan U16 86:64
South Korea clinch bronze in Colombo at the U16 Asia Championship. They overcame Taiwan 86:64 in the game for the third place.
South Korea started the game with a 10-9 lead and reached 24-15 advantage at the end of the first period. Taiwan did not give up and reduced to 42:37 at the halftime. The third period however became decisive in the game as South Korea pushed the tempo for good and increased to 22 points after 30 minutes of the game. Both teams nailed 19 points each in the last stanza for the final result.
An Heji (164-PG-97) made a triple double with 22 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, while Kim Yejin (173-F-97) notched 19. Park Gyeongrim (168-G-98) delivered 13 and Han Eomji (179-C-98) produced 11. Hsu Yu-Lien (177-F-97) ended up with 19 points in defeat and Wang Jing-Ting (180-C-98) notched 18. Cho Ching (172-F-97) produced 7 and Peng Hsiao-Tong (168-G-98) had 5.
