Japan U16 - India U16 112:45

Japan confidently opened U16 Asia Championship title defence. The reigning champions thumped India in the opener. Kiri Endo (167-PG-97) scored 15 points to lead the winning side. Japan dominated in the starting quarter. They held India to only 3 points in the first term and opened a 22-point lead. Japan knocked down 25 points in the second term and secured a 30-point halftime lead. Things got even better for Japan in the third quarter. They cleared off to a 41-point distance at the final intermission. Japan unleashed 38 points in the fourth period and sealed a comfortable victory at the end. Sana Goto (180-PF-97) posted 14 points and 11 boards, while Hinano Mizuno and Rinano Waki had 13 points each for the winners. Bhandavya Mahesha responded with 14 points for India. Lopamudra Kokkalera topscored with 15 points in the defeat.

Chinese Taipei U16- Malaysia U16 85:30
Chinese Taipei roll over Malaysia in Day 1 of the U16 Asia Championship. Chinese Taipei posted a comfortable 85:30 win in their opener. Chinese Taipei won the opening tip 10-3 and enjoyed a 17-7 rally at the end of the first period. The favorites pushed the tempo early in the second quarter and reached 34:11 on the board. They added another 12-4 before the halftime for 46:15 advantage. Chinese Taipei led 68:20 after three quarters and then had the final 85:30 victory.
Cho Ching (172-F-97) top-scored for the winners with 16 points and Hsu Yu-Lien (177-F-97) as well as Wang Jing-Ting (180-C-98) had 12 each. PENG Hsiao-Tong followed them with 9 points in a win. Ky Lie Hiew (178-C-98) replied with 9 points in the losing effort and Kar Syuen Khoo (163-G-98) brought 7. NG Yu Feng ended up with 6 points in the losing case.

South Korea U16-China U16 50:82
China prevail against South Korea in Day 1 of the U16 Asia Championship. The Chinese team grabbed an 82:60 win in Level I. China took 5:4 lead at the start of the game and finished the first quarter with an 18:13 advantage. China pushed the tempo in the second quarter and reached 40:28 at the halftime. Moreover they led 55:40 after three periods and then 67:44 with 5 minutes to go. The final 15-6 rally allowed them to start the campaign with an 82:50 win.
Ha Wenxi (188-C-97) and Dilana Dilishati (192-C-97) top-scored for the winners with 16 points each and combined for 24 rebounds. GUO Zixuan scored 15, WANG Haimei nailed 11 and WANG Zhen brought 9. An Heji (164-PG-97) finished the game with 11 points in a loss, whilst Yun Yebin (176-G-97) poured in 7. Kim Yejin (173-F-97) and LEE Jiwoo notched 6 points each in a loss.

Thailand U16 - Kazakhstan U16 65:36

Thailand victoriously opened their U16 Asian Championship campaign. They overcame Kazakhstan in Level II opener. Thunchanok Lumdappang (176-C-99) scored 16 points to lead the winners. Thailand earned a 15:10 lead after the opening quarter. Kazakhstan narrowed the deficit in the second frame. They got within 3 points at the interval 25:28. But Thailand took over in the third term. The Thai team went on a commanding 22:7 rally in the quarter opening an 18-point cushion at the final break. Thailand held their opponents to just 4 points in the fourth period and sealed the victory at the end. Rujiwan Bunsinprom (173-F-98) posted 12 points, while Amphawa Thuamon netted 9 points in the win. Anastassiya Arzamastseva responded with 11 points for Kazakhstan. Alexandra Kovalevskaya had 10 points in the loss.

Indonesia U16 - Jordan U16 62:59
Indonesia clinched the opening win at the U16 Asian Championship in Sri Lanka. They held off Jordan in Level II first game for both teams. Ida Wijaya scored 15 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and issued 6 assists to lead the winners. Indonesia eked out an 18:17 lead after ten minutes. Jordan pulled ahead in the second frame. They held Indonesia to 11 points in the period and accumulated a 34:29 halftime lead. Indonesia extended their lead in the third term. They posted a 49:39 lead heading into the fourth stanza. Indonesia dropped 18 points in the final period and sealed the winning outcome. Poppy Paramita netted 10 points, while Yusranie Assipalma (172-PF-98) had 11 points in the victory. Liliana Abu Jbara answered with 20 points for Jordan. Tala Shahatit chipped in 10 points in the defeat.

Hong Kong U16-Sri Lanka U16 57:46
Hong Kong beat the hosts at the end of Day 1 of the U16 Asia Championship. Hong Kong started the campaign with a 57:46 win. Sri Lanka won the opening tip 5:3, but Hong Kong took 14:12 lead at the end of the first period. Again the hosts grabbed 18:16 lead after 15 minutes of the game, while Hong Kong closed the half for 27:22 advantage. Hong Kong enjoyed a 42:34 lead after three quarters and then managed to increase to final 11 points. Hong Kong did not allow the hosts to come closer and celebrated a 57:46 victory.
Cheung Wa Sin (163-SF-97) top-scored for the winners with 20 points and Lui Shuk Yi (171-SF-98) had 17. FONG Tsz Yan poured in 6, whilst TSE Yik Lam added 4. DE SILVA WIMALATUNGA Manikk collected 17 points and 12 rebounds in defeat and GALLASSAGE Jithendri Nisalie brought 12 points and 13 rebounds. FERNANDO Arshakulasooriya notched 8, whilst SAMARASINGHE ARACHCHIGE delivered 4.
