An interesting game for LebaneseAl Riyadi (1-0) which hosted in Beirut second-ranked Syrian Al Wahda (0-1). Leader Al Riyadi managed to get a 9-point victory 89-80 . It was a key game for the top position in the league. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Al Wahda 's 34. They outrebounded Al Wahda 42-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. Al Riyadi players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American players dominated the game. Forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Maurice Kemp (203-1991, college: ECU) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. James Justice (178-1989, college: UT Southern) responded with 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Falando Jones (193-1990, college: MVSU) scored 13 points and 5 assists. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Defending Lebanese champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Gorgan. Defending Syrian champion Al Wahda still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Sagesse.
