Regular Season Round 1: Heat - Islanders 114-91

The game between closely ranked teams ended withIslanders ' road loss to Heat 91-114 . Heat outrebounded Islanders 51-38 including a 41-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Heat players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. It was a very good performance for American Davon Dillard (196-1996, college: Shaw) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists. His fellow American import forward Alfred Hollins (198-1999, college: UTEP) contributed with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Worth to mention Dillard played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Four Heat players scored in double figures. Filipino Algin Andaya (-1997) answered with 26 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jermale Jones (185-1986, college: Tuskegee) added 20 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Islanders. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
