Regular Season Round 11: YKE - Ghosthawks 107-92

The game between second ranked Ghosthawks (9-8) and fourth ranked YKE (2-10) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Ghosthawks were defeated by YKE 107-92. YKE dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Ghosthawks' 36. They outrebounded Ghosthawks 51-38 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. YKE looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian power forward Artem Kovalov (208-1997, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Maltese center Samuel Deguara (230-1991) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Lithuanian center Benas Griciunas (210-1994, college: EWU, agency: LHZ Sport Agency) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and the former international center Fan Po-Yen Chen (195-2000) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for YKE. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. YKE maintains fourth place with 2-10 record. Ghosthawks at the other side keep the second position with eight games lost. YKE are looking forward to face higher ranked Fubon Braves (#3) in Taipei in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ghosthawks will play at home against Fubon Braves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
