Regular Season Round 11: Al Shamal - Al Ahli D. 73-112

QBL round 11 most important game was a victory ofAl Ahli over 6th ranked Al Shamal 112-73 on Saturday night. Al Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Al Shamal 's 36. Al Ahli forced 20 Al Shamal turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Al Ahli looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American players dominated the game. Guard Nigel Johnson (187-1995, college: Virginia, agency: 6th Man Basketball Agency) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 9 assists. Center Taylor Adway (205-1996, college: Ferris St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Johnson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Al Ahli D. players scored in double figures. Al Ahli D.'s coach Thomas Nikou felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Shane Rector (188-1994, college: Utah St.) answered with 28 points and guard Tyree Crump (185-1997, college: Georgia, agency: BIG) added 21 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Al Shamal. Al Ahli have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 6-4 record. Al Shamal at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Al Wakrah. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Qatar Club.
