Regular Season Round 8: Al Rayyan - Al Wakrah 97-83

An interesting game for Al Rayyan (6-1) which hosted in Doha 4th ranked Al Wakrah (4-3). Second ranked Al Rayyan managed to get a 14-point victory 97-83. Al Rayyan dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Al Wakrah's 40. Al Rayyan players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Malik Curry (185-1999, college: WVU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and international center Tyler Harris (208-1993, college: Auburn) who added 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. Harris is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. American-Haitian forward Wes Alcegaire (198-1994, college: BGSU, agency: BIG) responded with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and American guard Aaron Mitchell (188-1989, college: Longwood) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. Al Rayyan maintains second position with 6-1 record having just one point less than leader Al Arabi. Al Wakrah at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Al Shamal. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Sadd.
