Regular Season Round 2: Al Gharafa - Al Wakrah 82-91

An interesting game was played in Doha where Al Wakrah beat host Al Gharafa 91-82 on Monday evening. Al Wakrah made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American guard Aaron Mitchell (188-1989, college: Longwood) had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Sindou Diallo (194-2000, college: Montana Tech) chipped in 29 points and 4 assists during the contest. Lebanese swingman Mark Al-Khoury (197-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Ja'Cor Nelson (195-1999, college: Central Mo.) scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Wakrah will meet Al Ahli in the next round. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Rayyan.
