The game had a very big importance for fourth-rankedPainters as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Painters defeated one of their biggest challengers FiberXers in Manila 90-84 . It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of FiberXers. It was a key game for the top position in the league. 25 personal fouls committed by FiberXers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Leonard Santillan fired 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Gian Mamuyac chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Spanish guard Juan Gomez De Liano (184-1999) produced 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and Justine Baltazar added 10 points and 21 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Rain or Shine and four FiberXers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
