Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Manila: Kings (#7) and Painters (#7). Kings (7-4) smashed visiting Painters (6-5) by 28 points 120-92. Ginebra Kings dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Painters's 36. Ginebra Kings outrebounded Rain or Shine 54-41 including 39 on the defensive glass. Ginebra Kings players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was a good game for naturalized American forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Scottie Thompson (188-1993) contributed with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Kings players scored in double figures. American-Ivorian power forward Deon Thompson (204-1988, college: UNC, agency: Slash Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and guard Antonio Asistio (178-1995) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Rain or Shine. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ginebra Kings moved-up to sixth place. Rain or Shine at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Ginebra Kings' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Manila Meralco Bolts.
