Regular Season Round 11: SM Beermen - Meralco Bolts 93-100

Rather expected game in Manila where 8th rankedBeermen (4-6) was defeated by fifth ranked Bolts (7-3) 100-93 on Saturday. Meralco Bolts forced 19 SM Beermen turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Chris Newsome (187-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Center June Mar Fajardo (210-1989) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Malik Pope (208-1996, college: SDSU) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four SM Beermen players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Bolts . Meralco Bolts moved-up to third place, which they share with HK Eastern. Loser Beermen keeps the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Hotshots and NLEX RW.
