The most exciting game of round 9 in the WJBL took place in Kariya. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd placedSunshine R. (11-7) to second ranked Denso I. (13-5) 72-69 in the game for the second place. Denso I. forced 20 Sunshine R. turnovers. 29 personal fouls committed by Sunshine R. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Maki Takada who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Filipino power forward Jack-Danielle Animam (190-1998) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Nanako Todo who recorded 22 points and 5 rebounds and added 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively. Sunshine R.'s coach Lucas Mondelo tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Denso I. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-5 record having just two points less than leader Toyota A. Sunshine R. lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Fujitsu RW.
