Regular Season Round 59: Aomori W. - Fukushima 83-109

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Aomori where 6th ranked Watts (21-39) were crushed by seventh ranked Firebonds (15-45) 109-83 on Saturday. Fukushima shot 65.6 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Fukushima looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. It was a great evening for Lithuanian forward Rapolas Ivanauskas (208-1998, college: Cincinnati) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). Swingman Takuya Soma (182-1991) helped adding 19 points and 4 assists. Czech Patrik Auda (206-1989, college: Seton Hall, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American Rashard Kelly (203-1995, college: Wichita St.) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Fukushima and four Aomori W. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fukushima maintains seventh place with 15-45 record. Aomori W. lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 39 games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aomori W. will play against Fukushima (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
