Regular Season Round 48: Osaka E. - Kyoto H. 97-95

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when one of their biggest challengers Kyoto H. (25-23) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Osaka E. (24-24) 97-95 on Saturday. Osaka E. looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian center Volodymyr Herun (208-1994, college: Portland) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American Ryan Luther (206-1995, college: Arizona) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Yuta Okada (189-1998) who recorded 31 points and American center Charles Jackson (208-1993, college: Tenn Tech) added 21 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) respectively. Five Osaka E. and four Kyoto H. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Osaka E. maintains fourth position with 24-24 record. Loser Kyoto H. keeps the third place with 23 games lost. They share the position with Nagoya DD. Osaka E. will again meet at home higher ranked Kyoto H. (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Kyoto H. will have a break next round.
