Regular Season Round 49: Yamagata - Shinshu BW 61-65

Rather predictable result when second ranked Brave Warriors (31-17) won against 6th ranked Wyverns (18-30) in Yamagata 65-61 on Sunday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shinshu made 8 blocks. American players dominated the game. Forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and guard Terrance Woodbury (203-1987, college: Georgia) accounted for 11 points and 8 rebounds. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. James Bell (196-1992, college: Villanova, agency: Slash Sports) came up with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and TJ Holyfield (203-1995, college: Texas Tech) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Yamagata in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Shinshu maintains second place with 31-17 record having just three points less than leader Chiba, which they share with Toyama G. Yamagata lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with 30 games lost. They share it with Aomori W.. Shinshu will meet at home league's leader Chiba in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yamagata will play against Bambitious (#4) in Nara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
