Regular Season Round 47: Shinshu BW - Kumamoto V. 79-66

The game between Top Four teams took place in Nagano. Second ranked host Brave Warriors (31-16) defeated 4th placed Volters (20-27) 79-66. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Volters. Shinshu outrebounded Kumamoto V. 44-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Shinshu looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was center Wayne Marshall (211-1986, college: Temple) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. Four Brave Warriors players scored in double figures. Forward Mitch Lightfoot (203-1997, college: Kansas, agency: Slash Sports) produced 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and center Jamel McLean (203-1988, college: Xavier) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Volters' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Shinshu maintains second place with 31-16 record having just three points less than leader Chiba. Loser Volters keeps the fourth position with 27 games lost. They share it with Bambitious. Shinshu will meet Yamagata (#6) on the road in the next round. Kumamoto V. will play against the league's second-placed Kagoshima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
