Regular Season Round 47: Shinshu BW - Kumamoto V. 81-87

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Brave Warriors (31-16) against fourth ranked Volters (20-27) on Monday night. Host Brave Warriors were defeated by Volters in a tough game in Nagano 81-87. Kumamoto V. players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (208-1990, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American center Jamel McLean (203-1988, college: Xavier) accounted for 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Volters players scored in double figures. American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 23 points and 9 assists and the other American import guard Terrance Woodbury (203-1987, college: Georgia) added 17 points respectively for Shinshu in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Volters have a solid series of four victories in a row. Kumamoto V. maintains fourth place with 20-27 record, which they share with Bambitious. Shinshu at the other side keeps the second position with 16 games lost. Kumamoto V. will play against league's second-placed Kagoshima in Renova in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shinshu will play on the road against Yamagata and hopes to get back on the winning track.
