Regular Season Round 44: Toyama G. - Chiba 91-87

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Chiba (41-3) in Toyama on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Grouses (28-16) 91-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chiba. Toyama G. looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Chiba helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Aaron White (206-1992, college: Iowa, agency: Slash Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-1990, college: LBSU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Grouses players scored in double figures. American Brandon Ashley (206-1994, college: Arizona) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import center Dererk Pardon (203-1996, college: Northwestern) added 17 points in the effort for Chiba. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toyama G. maintains third position with 28-16 record having four points less than leader Chiba. Chiba at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. Toyama G. are looking forward to face Kobe S. (#6) in Hyogo in the next round. Chiba will play on the road against Yamagata (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
