Regular Season Round 12: Aishin AW - Hitachi Cougars 63-68

There was a minor upset in Anjo where 5th ranked Aishin AW (9-16) was defeated by bottom-ranked Hitachi Cougars (4-20) 68-63 on Sunday. Hitachi Cougars looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Yuki Nakano (181-1996) who scored 16 points and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Senegalese center Daramee Malem-Doi (187-1997) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Hitachi Cougars players scored in double figures. Hitachi Cougars' coach Hidenori Kashiwakura used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-1991) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Sakura Noguchi (181-2001) added 9 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively. Hitachi Cougars maintains eighth position with 4-20 record. Aishin AW at the other side dropped to the seventh place with 16 games lost. Hitachi Cougars will meet at home higher ranked Toyota A. (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aishin AW will play against Eneos S. in Kashiwa and hope to secure a win.
