There was an upset when higher rankedShanan Utd (17-21) was smashed by fifteenth ranked Kanazawa (14-24) in Kanagawa 94-65 on Friday. Kanazawa made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game, while Shanan Utd only scored 0 point from the stripe. Kanazawa forced 21 Shanan Utd turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. Kanazawa looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Steven Green (196-1993, college: OKBU) notched 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Ukrainian center Viacheslav Petrov (204-1994, agency: BIG) supported him with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Five Kanazawa players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks by American center Michael Hughes (203-1998, college: Duquesne) did not help to save the game for Shanan Utd . Swingman Makoto Kamata (193-2000) added 12 points for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kanazawa have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Yamaguchi. Shanan Utd at the other side keeps the tenth position with 21 games lost.
