Regular Season Round 40: Ehime OV - Shizuoka 73-96

There was no surprise in Matsuyama where 7th ranked Orange Vikings (3-38) were crushed by third ranked Shizuoka (25-16) 96-73 on Friday. Shizuoka outrebounded Ehime 44-21 including a 12-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Shizuoka looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of New Zealand-Irish Finn Delany (200-1995, college: SW Baptist) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and Guamanian forward Takumi Takumi (190-2000) who added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side point guard Takumi Furuno (178-1993) responded with 13 points and 8 assists and American forward Novar Gadson (201-1989, college: Rider) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shizuoka have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 25-16 record having three points less than leader Chiba. Ehime lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 38 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
