Regular Season Round 35: Ibaraki R. - Tochigi Brex 81-90

Very predictable result in Mito where first ranked Tochigi Brex (29-6) beat 7th ranked Robots (8-27) 90-81 on Sunday. Tochigi Brex forced 21 Ibaraki R. turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (191-1990) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn State) helped adding 22 points and 7 rebounds. Tochigi Brex's coach Kevin Braswell used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Robert Franks (205-1996, college: WSU) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Kohei Nakamura (181-1996) scored 19 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 29-6 record. Loser Robots keeps the seventh position with 27 games lost. They share it with Sendai 89ers. Tochigi Brex will meet at home Kawasaki (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ibaraki R. will play against the league's second-placed Shimane SM and hope to secure a win.
