Regular Season Round 36: Fukushima - Toyama G. 80-105

The game in Fukushima supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Grouses (25-11) played at the court of 7th ranked Firebonds (7-29). Grouses smashed Firebonds 105-80 on Saturday. Toyama G. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Firebonds's 42 and had 28 for 44 from the free-throw line, while Fukushima only scored eleven points from the stripe. Toyama G. looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-1990, college: LBSU) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. American center Mitchell Watt (208-1989, college: Buffalo, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Five Grouses players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian forward Rapolas Ivanauskas (208-1998, college: Cincinnati) who recorded 25 points and 7 rebounds and forward Weijia Weijia (198-1998) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyama G. maintains second position with 25-11 record having just two points less than leader Chiba. Fukushima lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 29 games lost. Toyama G. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fukushima will play against the league's second-placed Toyama G. (#2) and hope to secure a win.
