Regular Season Round 32: Sendai 89ers - Shiga L-Stars 76-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked 89ers (8-24) lost to eighth ranked Lakestars (3-28) in Sendai 76-80 on Sunday. The winners were led by Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and American Markeith Cummings (198-1988, college: KSU) supported him with 18 points and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 17 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists by American Nathan Boothe (208-1994, college: Toledo) did not help to save the game for Sendai 89ers. His fellow American import Stanton Kidd (202-1992, college: Colorado St.) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Shiga L-Stars maintains eighth position with 3-28 record. Loser 89ers keep the seventh place with 24 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will meet at home higher ranked Nagasaki (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sendai 89ers will play against Ibaraki R. in Mito and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
