Regular Season Round 34: Chiba - Yamagata 92-83

Leader Chiba delivered the 32th victory. This time they beat 6th ranked Wyverns (12-22) 92-83. Chiba dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Wyverns's 32. Chiba outrebounded Yamagata 40-24 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Chiba players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Brandon Ashley (206-1994, college: Arizona) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import center Dererk Pardon (203-1996, college: Northwestern) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. American TJ Holyfield (203-1995, college: Texas Tech) replied with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Kazuma Okajima (171-2003) added 21 points and 8 assists in the effort for Yamagata. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chiba (32-2) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Yamagata lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with 22 games lost. They share the position with Kobe S.. Chiba will play against league's second-placed Kagoshima in Renova in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yamagata will play at home against Fukushima and hopes to get back on the winning track.
