Regular Season Round 33: Fukuoka R. - Fukushima 81-51

There was no surprise in Fukuoka where 7th ranked Firebonds (7-27) were outplayed by first ranked Rizing (25-9) 81-51 on Saturday. Fukuoka R. dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Firebonds's 16 and had 26 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Fukushima only scored eight points from the stripe. Fukuoka R. forced 19 Fukushima turnovers. The best player for the winners was American center Joshua Smith (210-1992, college: Georgetown) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Justin Burrell (204-1988, college: St.John's) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Rizing players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Hungarian forward Mikael Hopkins (206-1993, college: Georgetown) who recorded 16 points and forward Weijia Weijia (198-1998) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fukuoka R. maintains first place with 25-9 record. Loser Firebonds keeps the seventh position with 27 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
