Regular Season Round 31: Sendai 89ers - Shiga L-Stars 100-90

There was a small surprise in Sendai where eighth ranked 89ers (7-23) beat their close opponent Lakestars (2-27) 100-90 on Saturday. Sendai 89ers shot 20 for 28 from the free-throw line, while Shiga L-Stars only scored four points from the stripe. Sendai 89ers forced 23 Shiga L-Stars turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sendai 89ers made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American Stanton Kidd (202-1992, college: Colorado St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import Nathan Boothe (208-1994, college: Toledo) helped adding 19 points. At the losing side Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds and American Markeith Cummings (198-1988, college: KSU) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Sendai 89ers moved-up to seventh place. Shiga L-Stars lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the eighth position with 27 games lost. Sendai 89ers will meet at home Shiga L-Stars (#8) in the next round.
