There was a minor upset in Hyogo where 4th ranked Storks (11-19) were crushed by sixth ranked Volters (9-21) 87-66 on Sunday. Kumamoto V. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Storks's 38. Kumamoto V. outrebounded Kobe S. 42-28 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kumamoto V. looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Kobe S.'s players. The best player for the winners was American forward Mitch Lightfoot (203-1997, college: Kansas, agency: Slash Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import center Jamel McLean (203-1988, college: Xavier) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Volters players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian-American power forward Morris Udeze (206-1999, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Chaundee Brown Jr (195-1998, college: Michigan) added 16 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Volters have a solid three-game winning streak. Kumamoto V. maintains sixth position with 9-21 record. Loser Storks keeps the fourth place with 19 games lost. They share the position with Bambitious and Aomori W.. Kumamoto V. will meet Fukushima (#7) on the road in the next round. Kobe S. will play against the league's second-placed Kagoshima in Renova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
