Regular Season Round 25: Sendai 89ers - Nagasaki 66-79

Everything went according to plan in Sendai where fifth ranked Nagasaki (13-12) won against 8th ranked 89ers (5-20) 79-66 on Saturday. Nagasaki made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American Jarrell Brantley (201-1996, college: Charleston) stepped up and scored 19 points and 7 assists for the winners and international Yudai Baba (196-1995) chipped in 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Nagasaki players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Stanton Kidd (202-1992, college: Colorado St.) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and guard Hirohide Araya (189-1998) scored 21 points. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Nagasaki have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Kawasaki. Nagasaki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again against Nagasaki (#3) and hope to secure a win.
