Regular Season Round 21: San-en NP - Koshigaya A. 89-86

Seventh-ranked Alphas (6-15) were very close to win a game against second ranked San-en NP (17-4) in Hamamatsu. San-en NP managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Koshigaya A. outrebounded San-en NP 41-23 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. San-en NP players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American-Nigerian swingman David Nwaba (195-1993, college: Cal Poly) stepped up and scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international point guard Sota Oura (182-1997) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Nwaba is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Brazilian-American center Tim Soares (211-1997, college: Master's) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Filipino-American center Kai Sotto (220-2002) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. San-en NP keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Tochigi Brex. Koshigaya A. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with 15 games lost. San-en NP will play against league's leader Alvark Tokyo on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Koshigaya A. will play against the league's leader Tochigi Brex (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
