We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Tokyo where 7th rankedFighting Eagles (5-11) were outplayed by eighth ranked Alphas (4-12) 101-71 on Sunday. Koshigaya A. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Fighting Eagles 's 26. Koshigaya A. outrebounded FE Nagoya 46-24 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Koshigaya A. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Filipino-American center Kai Sotto (220-2002) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-1980, college: Otterbein) who added 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Alphas players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Aaron Henry (198-1999, college: Michigan St., agency: Diamond Sports) responded with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Ryo Sadohara (192-1999) scored 11 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Koshigaya A. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kawasaki and Sendai 89ers. Loser Fighting Eagles dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Hokkaido L. and Hiroshima D..
