Very expected game in Kanagawa where 7th rankedShanan Utd (6-6) was defeated by second ranked Big Bulls (12-2) 74-69 on Friday. Iwate outrebounded Shanan Utd 38-23 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-1987, college: Cincinnati) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Harumichi Ishikawa (170-1999) chipped in 23 points and 5 assists. American center Michael Hughes (203-1998, college: Duquesne) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Shuki Shigetomi (174-1998) added 8 points and 10 assists respectively for the hosts. Shanan Utd's coach Takeshi Hotta rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Iwate maintains second position with 12-2 record behind leader Yokohama EX, which they share with Kagawa. Loser Shanan Utd dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. They share the position with Tachikawa.
