Not a big story in a game when 13th rankedNiigata A. (5-7) lost to ninth ranked Shanan Utd (5-5) in Kanagawa 75-81 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was an exceptional evening for American center Michael Hughes (203-1998, college: Duquesne) who led the winners and scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Michael Phillips (202-1990, college: Howard) accounted for 14 points for the winning side. American power forward Evan Ravenel (204-1989, college: Ohio St.) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds and American-Jamaican power forward Kyle Hunt (208-1989, college: USAO, agency: BIG) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Niigata A. in the defeat. Five Shanan Utd and four Niigata A. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Shanan Utd went down to tenth position due to points difference. Niigata A. lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Saitama.
