Very important is a road loss of third ranked Nagasaki (6-6) against eighth ranked Alphas (2-10) on Wednesday night. Visiting Nagasaki was defeated by Alphas in Tokyo 80-67. Koshigaya A. made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Brazilian-American center Tim Soares (211-1997, college: Master's) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Filipino-American center Kai Sotto (220-2002) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Alphas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Mark Smith (193-1999, college: Kansas St.) who recorded 32 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import Jarrell Brantley (201-1996, college: Charleston) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Koshigaya A. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ibaraki R. Nagasaki at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Koshigaya A. will meet higher ranked Yokohama BC (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nagasaki will play against Akita NH and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
