Regular Season Round 17: Tijarah - Al Karkh 75-69

There was an upset when higher ranked Al Karkh (8-8) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Tijarah (2-12) 75-69 on Sunday. Tijarah made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. AlaA Al-Saedi stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American forward Julio Guity (204-1995, college: Montevallo) chipped in 8 points and 15 rebounds. Four Tijarah players scored in double figures. American point guard Shakir Smith (185-1992, college: ASU) responded with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international center Ali Hameed (208-1984) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Tijarah maintains tenth place with 2-12 record. Loser Al Karkh keeps the fifth position with eight games lost.
