Regular Season Round 9: RANS PIK - Pelita Jaya 72-73

The most exciting game of round 9 in the IBL took place in Gor Merpati. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 8th ranked RANS PIK (3-5) to leader Pelita Jaya (7-0) 73-72 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pelita Jaya made 7 blocks. American center Jeff Withey (213-1990, college: Kansas) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks for the winners and his fellow American import guard Amorie Archibald (192-1999, college: La Tech, agency: Olsta) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists. Four Pelita Jaya players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward KJ Buffen (201-2000, college: UAB, agency: Diamond Sports) with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and American-Mexican forward Aaron Fuller (198-1989, college: USC, agency: Haylett Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Pelita Jaya have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. RANS PIK at the other side dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Rajawali. Pelita Jaya are looking forward to face Tangerang (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. RANS PIK will play against Satya Wacana in Salatiga and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
