Bottom-rankedBlue Whales (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 109-97 loss to fourth ranked Eagles (8-2) in Sichuan. Qingdao E. made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Qingdao E. players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists. American guard Quinndary Weatherspoon (190-1996, college: MSU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 assists. His fellow American import power forward Jordan Mickey (203-1994, college: LSU) contributed with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Shamorie Ponds (185-1998, college: St.John's) answered with 27 points and 9 assists and added 27 points and 4 assists (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) in the effort for Sichuan. Five Qingdao E. and four Sichuan players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Qingdao E. moved-up to third place, which they share with Beijing D. and Shanghai. Sichuan lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost.
