Bottom-rankedBlue Whales (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-52 loss to fifth ranked Sharks (5-2) in Shanghai. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales 's 38. Shanghai outrebounded Sichuan 49-31 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shanghai players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American-Qatari Brandon Goodwin (188-1995, college: FGCU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Pengfei Yan contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Sharks players scored in double figures. American-Lebanese Omari Spellman (206-1997, college: Villanova) replied with 11 points and Australian center Gorjok Gak (211-1996, college: CBU) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Sichuan. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sharks have a solid three-game winning streak. Shanghai maintains fifth position with 5-2 record. Sichuan at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost.
