We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Dongguan where 8th rankedEagles (21-10) were defeated by ninth ranked Guandong Tigers (19-11) 105-96 on Friday. Guangdong ST made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Guangdong ST outrebounded Qingdao E. 44-32 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Guangdong ST made 8 blocks. American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-1988, college: NM State) scored 36 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Jie Xu (181-2000) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Loser Eagles dropped to the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Liaoning.
