Regular Season Round 17: Shanghai - Guangdong 68-71

The most exciting game of round 17 in the WCBA took place in Shanghai. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Swordfish (10-5) to third ranked Vermilion Birds (10-5) 71-68 in the game for the second place. The former international Huang Sijing (192-1996) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and American guard Aliyah Collier (183-1997, college: Clemson) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds. Five Vermilion Birds players scored in double figures. American forward Crystal Bradford (183-1993, college: CMU) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds and Brazilian center Kamilla Cardoso (201-2001, college: S.Carolina) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Vermilion Birds have a solid series of three victories in a row. Guangdong moved-up to second place, which they share with Henan and Shanghai. Guangdong is looking forward to face Xinjiang (#5) in Urumqi in the next round. Shanghai will play on the road against the league's leader Shanxi in Taiyuan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
