An interesting game took place in Dongguan where higher rankedGuandong Tigers (10-8) were upset on its own court by sixteenth ranked Sharks (6-10) 124-91 on Saturday. Shanghai forced 20 Guangdong ST turnovers and outrebounded them 52-34 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Shanghai looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Guangdong ST 's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Kenneth Lofton Jr (201-2002, college: La Tech) who had a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Hongquan Li chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Sharks players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-1988, college: NM State) who recorded 44 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Jie Xu (181-2000) added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sharks have an impressive five-game winning streak. Shanghai moved-up to thirteenth place. Guangdong ST at the other side dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Nanjing.
