VBA Round 12 (Regular Season): Catfish is defeated by Dragons

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Danang between second ranked Catfish (8-5) and fifth ranked Dragons (8-7) on Friday night. Catfish was defeated by Dragons on the road 77-64. Dragons forced 20 Catfish turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Karachi Edo (196-1994, college: Fresno St.) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) who added 13 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Malek Green (201-1999, college: YSU) with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dragons maintains fifth position with 8-7 record. Catfish at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Dolphins. Dragons are looking forward to face higher ranked Dolphins (#3) in Nha Trang in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Catfish will play at home against the league's leader Buffaloes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
VBA top team - Buffaloes (14-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat seventh ranked Wings (1-15) in Ho Chi Minh 100-90. The winners were led by American swingman Tamyrik Fields (198-1996, college: Augusta, agency: Interperformances) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and DaQuan Bracey supported him with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Buffaloes' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists by the former international guard Khoa Dang Tran Dang (183-1997) did not help to save the game for City Wings. Undefeated Buffaloes have an impressive 14-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-0 record. City Wings lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Buffaloes will play against Catfish (#4) in Can Tho in the next round. City Wings will have a break next round.
In the last game of round 12 Heat won against Dragons on the opponent's court 94-87.

Rather expected game in Danang where 5th ranked Dragons (8-7) were defeated by second ranked Heat (10-7) 94-87 on Sunday. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was Davon Dillard (196-1996, college: Shaw) who scored 27 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Alfred Hollins (198-1999, college: UTEP) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Dillard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Heat players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Karachi Edo (196-1994, college: Fresno St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists and Timothy Simmons (195-1992, college: DBU) added 25 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 10-7 record having one point less than leader Buffaloes. Loser Dragons keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Heat will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dragons will play against Dolphins (#3) in Nha Trang and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
