VBA Round 2 (Regular Season): Dolphins defeat Catfish in the game between Top 4 teams

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in VBA. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An interesting game for Dolphins which hosted in Nha Trang Catfish. Dolphins managed to get a 4-point victory 81-77. Dolphins had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds. point guard Jaylyn Richardson (189-1998, college: WOU) contributed with 25 points and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Malek Green (201-1999, college: YSU) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for Catfish. Dolphins are looking forward to face Buffaloes in Hanoi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Catfish will play on the road against City Wings in Ho Chi Minh and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Forward Malek Green (201-1999, college: YSU) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dolphins will play against Buffaloes in Hanoi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Catfish will play on the road against City Wings in Ho Chi Minh and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Danang was also quite interesting. Buffaloes played at the court of Dragons. Buffaloes defeated Dragons 132-121 on Monday. Taishaun Johnson notched 49 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 30 points and 15 rebounds by Karachi Edo did not help to save the game for Dragons. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Buffaloes will meet Dolphins in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dragons will play against Islanders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 2 winless Islanders lost to undefeated Buffaloes on the road 97-109. Buffaloes won against Islanders on its own court 113-96.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 25 points and 21 rebounds by Alioune Tew of Islanders.



Dragons - Buffaloes 121-132

The game in Danang was also quite interesting. Buffaloes played at the court of Dragons. Buffaloes defeated Dragons 132-121 on Monday. Buffaloes forced 23 Dragons turnovers. American point guard Taishaun Johnson (183-1994, college: PVAMU) notched 49 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import forward Hassan Thomas (203-1996, college: Emporia St.) supported him with 37 points (!!!) and 23 rebounds. Johnson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 30 points and 15 rebounds by American forward Karachi Edo (196-1994, college: Fresno St.) did not help to save the game for Dragons. Chinbold Ganbat (-2003) added 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Four Buffaloes and five Dragons players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Buffaloes will meet Dolphins in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dragons will play against Islanders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game when Buffaloes beat Islanders in Hanoi 109-97 on Friday. Strangely Islanders outrebounded Buffaloes 56-40 including a 23-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Buffaloes looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American point guard Taishaun Johnson (183-1994, college: PVAMU) notched 27 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and the other American import forward Hassan Thomas (203-1996, college: Emporia St.) supported him with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Johnson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Even a double-double of 26 points, 29 rebounds and 6 assists by French center Alioune Tew (204-1992, college: Niagara, agency: HB-Spain) did not help to save the game for Islanders. Filipino guard Mike Tolomia (191-1993) added 29 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Buffaloes will meet Dolphins in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
